Bioshock 2: Fall of rapture (multiplayer)

BioShock 2 features a story-driven multiplayer mode in which the player takes on the role of a citizen of Rapture. Set in 1959, just before the events of BioShock, the player chooses to take on the role of a splicer fighting in Rapture's civil war. The player is being sponsored by the plasmid manufacturer, Sinclair Solutions, to test out their weapons, plasmids, and Tonics in a consumer reward program. As the player progresses through the multiplayer experience, new weapons, tonics, and plasmids will be unlocked (provided by Sinclair) in addition to the story of the Rapture civil war being told.
The player can choose from among 6 characters to serve as an in-game avatar. The characters are: Jacob Norris the welder, Barbara Johnson the housewife, Danny Wilkins the football star, Buck Raleigh the businessman, Naledi Atkins the pilot, and Suresh Sheti the Indian mystic. Two additional characters were available as a pre-order bonus from 12game, GameStop,EB games or Game, or through the purchase of a DLC pack: a fisherman named Zigo d'Acosta and an actress named Mille Blanche de Glace. Another two characters were made available by downloading the Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack: a criminal named Louie McGraff and a smooth-talking playboy named Oscar Calraca.
Multiplayer comes in 7 different modes, two of which have a single-player and team-based mode. The modes are:
Survival of the Fittest
A 'free-for-all' mode in which each player gets points for killing each of the other players. Whichever player accumulated the most kills or 20 kills by the end of the match wins.
Civil War
Players are divided into two opposing teams, and the team with the most collective kills of members of the other team at the end of the match wins.
Last Splicer Standing
A variation of 'Civil War' in which players do not respawn after being killed; each match consists of several rounds in which players attempt to outlive the players on the enemy team.
Capture the Sister
A 'Capture the Flag'-style mode in which players are divided into two teams, one of which must protect a Little Sister while the other tries to steal her and place her in a vent on the other side of the map. The team protecting the Little Sister will have a randomly chosen player to be a Big Daddy. After a predetermined amount of time, the teams switch roles. Whichever team has the most captures at the end of the match wins.
ADAM Grab
In this mode there is one Little Sister on the map and the player must seek her out and maintain possession of her as long as possible. The first person to hold onto the Little Sister for 3 minutes wins.
Team ADAM Grab
A variant of 'ADAM Grab' in which players are divided into two teams. The objective is the same, but victory is determined by a collective score rather than individual scores, and the first team to hold the Little Sister for 3 minutes wins.
Turf War
Players are split into two teams and each team must reach a number of predetermined points on the map to capture that point. The team with the most control points over the longest time wins.
In the multiplayer modes 'Survival of the Fittest', 'Civil War', and 'Turf War', a Big Daddy suit will spawn at a random location in the level. The choice is given to the player who finds this suit to become the Big Daddy, which will give the player greater strength and endurance but prohibits the use of plasmids and hacking, as well as expelling any previously held damage bonuses against other players. The Big Daddy can stomp, shoot a rivet gun, melee attack, and throw proximity mines. All damage dealt to the Big Daddy is permanent, and cannot be replenished. Once the Big Daddy is defeated, the suit disappears and spawns in another location on the map two minutes later. In 'Capture the Sister' one member of the defending team is chosen at random to be the Big Daddy; after the player's death, the Big Daddy suit disappears for the rest of the round.

Bioshock 2 main caracter

Subject Delta (Symbol: Δ) is the protagonist of Bioshock. Delta was the first successful Big Daddy subject bonded to a Little sister. He has a Delta symbol on his suit. Delta is the fourth letter in the Greek alphabet, signifying that Delta was the fourth test subject taken from Presephone for Alpha series conversion at Fontaine Futuristics. Delta is also a symbol commonly used in mathematics to represent change or variation.

Eleanor Lamb is the daughter of Sofia Lamb, and is a previous Little Sister. Roughly ten years after the 1958 New Year's Eve Riots she contacts Subject Delta, beginning the events of BioShock 2. Eleanor still remembers Delta after ten years and knows he is searching for her. Throughout the course of the game, she will leave him gifts and messages written on the walls of the city. In the story of BioShock 2, her behavior is highly influenced by Delta's actions towards the Little Sisters and NPCs.

Augustus Sinclair was one of the key figures in Rapture's science community as well as a prominent businessman. His business, Sinclair Solutions, was one of the most important Plasmid-researching companies in Rapture, and he is a significant character in BioShock 2, guiding Subject Delta to Eleanor Lamb

Dr. Sofia Lamb M.D, Ph.D, is a clinical psychiatrist and the primary antagonist of BioShock 2. She has taken over Andrew Ryan's position as the leader of Rapture, albeit with a completely different ideological view.

Bioshock art book: breaking the mold

On August 13, 2007, 2K games released a free PDF book entitled "BioShock: Breaking the Mold" containing concept art from the creation of Bioshock for download in both low and high resolutions. The artbook includes a foreword written by BioShock's director,Ken levine, which lists the graphic artists who were influential in the design of the game. Within the artbook, concept art shows the creative progression of the design for the game logo, the iconic Enemy, the  Wepon, and the Location of BioShock.
Until October 1, 2007, 2K Games sent a rare printed version of the artbook to the owners of the Bioshock lemeted colector edition  whose Big Daddy figurines had been broken, as compensation for the time it took to replace them.
In May 2009, 2K released a greatly expanded, print-only version of the artbook, with the added "Developer's Edition" subtitle. Only one printing of the artbook was done, and it was available for a limited time from the Take-Two Store. The cover of this edition was developed based on the winning design from the BioShock Artbook Cover Contest.

Bioshock 2 art Book: Deco Devolution

Deco Devolution: The Art of BioShock 2 is a book of concept art, development renders, and developer commentary that was shipped with the non-Standard Editions of BioShock 2

The Rapture Edition Art book is a reduced version of the Special Edition Art book made to be a value against the Special Edition. It is reduced to 96 pages, and scaled down to the dimensions of the game case itself.

The Special Edition Art book is the main version of BioShock 2's Art book. It is 168 pages and is composed of 10 chapters.

Chapter 1 - Citizens of Rapture

This chapter includes concept art, renders, and commentaries from the game's developers about BioShock 2's major characters (in order: Ryan, Sinclair, Stanley, Grace, Gil Alexander, Sofia Lamb and Tenenbaum) and Splicers, and about the 10 playable characters from BioShock 2 Multiplayer.

Chapter 2 - Big Daddies

Includes concept art, renders, and commentaries from the game's developers about BioShock 2's new Big Daddies, including concept art for the Rumbler, the Alpha Series, Subject Delta, and the Lancer.

Chapter 3 - Big Sisters

Includes concept art, renders, and commentaries from the game's developers about BioShock 2's Big Sisters, including early concepts of Eleanor in her Big Sister suit, and about the common Big Sisters.

Chapter 4 - Little Sisters

Includes concept art and commentaries from the game's developers about BioShock 2's new Little Sisters. Also includes concept art for the Bouncer doll and Subject Delta doll.

Chapter 5 - Environments

Includes concept art, renders and commentaries from the game's developers about BioShock 2's levels, including Adonis Luxury Resort, the Atlantic Express Depot, Ryan Amusements, Pauper's Drop, Siren Alley, Dionysus Park, Fontaine Futuristics, Outer and Inner Persephone. Also includes locations from BioShock 2 Multiplayer (including the ten main re-tooled levels and the Multiplayer Apartment), and concepts of levels that never made it to creation.
Little Brothers
"This is a Little Brother therapy room. They were supposed to be like Little Sisters, but they were a failed experiment. Little Brothers were supposed to be aggressive, so they couldn't be used for gathering."
―Rinaldo Tjan, Level Architect, 2K Marin;Deco Devolution Artbook
Little Brothers are mentioned in the Inner Persephone section of the Deco Devolution Artbook. The concept art for them is vague, showing one sitting in a Therapy bed with the plastic covering surrounding it. There seems to be a business name printed on the plastic, and bloodstains within said plastic. He is simply sitting by a light inside, blankly. An image of one of the shown concepts can be seen in the Gallery, below.

Chapter 6 - Weapons

Includes concept art, renders and commentaries from the game's developers about each weapon from BioShock 2's solo campaign and from BioShock 2 Multiplayer with all their upgrades (and even the third weapon upgrades from the Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack DLC).

Chapter 7 - User Interface

Includes concept art, renders and commentaries from the game's developers about BioShock 2's new user interface for the solo campaign (including the free game interface and the vending machines' interface) and for the players' lobby from BioShock 2 Multiplayer. Also outlines early concepts of systems that never made an appearance in BioShock 2.

Chapter 8 - Advertisements

Includes 19 advertisements produced for the BioShock series. Contains advertisements for businesses not seen in the games, such as Fontaine Fire Fighters and Nevr-Wet Waterproofing.

Chapter 9 - Storyboards

Includes 5 storyboards from BioShock 2. Two of them depict scenes which were deleted from the game, and the three others depict slightly modified scenes from the game.

Chapter 10 - Credits

Includes BioShock 2's game credits.
